I managed to get on the desktop for a bit, and tried the same thing as on the laptop. It had exactly the same behaviour when pressing the 'read from decorder' button, a short noise from the sprog and then a java crash. See full list on jmri.org. SPROG II has sufficient power to program sound decoders, even in large scales, so no power booster is necessary. SPROG II works with all those 'difficult' decoders that don't seem to read back on other systems. SPROG II also includes the ability to test your locos, or run your layout, with on-screen computer control, and full DCC operation. SPROG II USB Drivers (VCP Drivers) The latest SPROG USB Drivers are available for download here: Windows2000, XP, Vista or Windows 7 Windows98 or ME For MacOS 10.4 and later, use FTDIUSBSerialDriverv2210.dmg For MacOS 10.2 or 10.3, use FTDIUSBSerialDriverv2110.dmg. These are the same drivers that are included on the SPROG II JMRI CDROM. Button to find the drivers on the CD-ROM supplied with your SPROG NANO. If your CD-ROM drive is D:, for example, browse to the directory D: USB sprogNano inf, as shown.

General hardware info
If your layout uses some feedback mechanism to sense the actual positions of Turnouts, for example a microswitch connected to the throw bars or a decoder that returns a confirmation message, JMRI can use that to keep track of what's actually happening on the layout. We call this 'Feedback', and how to configure and use it is described on the Turnout Feedback page.
